Man, it seems like forever since I last blogged; but it feels good to be back! I wanted my first post back to be Harper’s Birth Story since she is the reason I have been MIA for the last few months. So here it goes! Let me take you back to a hot Summer, Saturday Morning in August.
I was in the bathroom finishing up getting ready while Matt was in the garage loading his trunk with his golf clubs. Matt had plans to go golfing with my Grandpa after we made a quick Target run. I was scheduled for my C-Section that Monday (We tried to do it on my birthday, August 4th but my doctor was out of town) and wanted to make sure that I had the house stocked because I knew people would be coming over day and night to meet Little Miss … still had to be the hostess with the mostess! However, as I was getting ready I started to notice some changes, I went outside and told Matt that we may need to pass on the Target Run and go to the Hospital. Mind you my doctor was in Hawaii, and that is why my C-Section was scheduled for that next Monday. I thought to myself I could just wait… Monday wasn’t that far away. But Matt made me call my nurse who recommended we head to the hospital just in case. She said they would send me home if I wasn’t ready, but its always better to be safe than sorry. So Matt loaded the car with all our bags and off we went.
We had to go through the ER since it was the weekend. They were adamant that I had to take a wheel chair to Labor and Delivery. I was totally against it and told Matt if he takes any photos I would kill him! Don’t mess with a pregnant lady! LOL Once we got to Labor and Delivery it was smooth sailing from there. I am pretty sure we were the only ones on the floor at that time. ( FAVOR ) Everything seemed so nonchalant so we thought we were going home, however my daughter had other ideas. Apparently I was 3.5 centimeters dilated and was going to have a baby in an hour! Matt quickly ran out and called the family and told them to head over!
Being that I was having a C – Section, I was a little nervous that my doctor wasn’t going to be the one delivering Harper. However, through out my entire pregnancy, Matt and I prayed and gave this whole situation to The Lord. We knew He was in control and had His own reasons as to why Harper was going to be making her grand entrance early. When Matt reminded me of this, I felt the peace of The Lord take over. I knew it would all be ok.
Have you ever seen Despicable Me? Well Gru was my doctor! Just kidding! But he sounded just like him! We had the chance to meet him back in June when I was admitted for Food Poisoning at which time Harper flipped and became breech. That is why I had to have the C-Section. Little Miss was stubborn and never turned back around, but I was ok with that. I wanted to have a C-Section anyway!
Music was playing, jokes were being told and tons of laughs filled the room throughout the delivery process. I was alert, talking to the doctors, and telling Matt to take photos the whole time! Before I knew it I heard the loudest cry and it melted my heart. She was here.
They brought her over to me so I could get a quick look before they cleaned her up. She was perfect. Once they cleaned her up they laid her on my chest and out of the OR we rolled and into recovery we went. Within minutes Harper was greeted with so much love from all her Grandparents who made it just in time to see her before visiting hours were over!
From there we headed to our room and started our new adventure as Mom and Dad and words cannot describe how amazing it has been so far …..
