This is 29, and 1! When Matt and I got married, he took on some of my crazy, HOT traditions, like going to Palm Springs in August every year for my Birthday! Last year we couldn’t go over my birthday because we didn’t know when the princess would make her grand entrance, so we went over 4th of July weekend. It was fun, but it wasn’t the same! On the drive home that year rubbing my belly while I swear Harper was dancing a jig in the womb, I was thinking about what this next year was going to bring. Would we keep this tradition up with a new baby? Would we start a new one? Where would we go instead? What would we do? Life was really about to change!
In what seemed like a blink of an eye, Matt and I were out to dinner talking about what we were going to do for mine and my daughters birthday’s which are two days apart in early August. Traveling with a 1 year old truly changes things, however that didn’t stop us from keeping up with the tradition of visiting Palm Springs for my birthday. However the get away for two is now a party for three. I hope this mini vacay grows as our family does and stays alive for many years to come. Palms Springs for some reason has a special place in my heart and I hope to share and create many memories in future years with my daughter and future kids to come.
Matt and I had the opportunity to do a mini getaway in June and we ended up staying at La Quinta and fell in love with the property. So when August rolled around we didn’t hesitate to get back as soon as possible. One of the main reasons we love staying at LA Quinta is the convenience the property provides. This is huge when you are toting a 1 year old around for all the fun. Everything is on property and if you don’t want to, you truly don’t have to leave. Seven restaurants, Forty-One pools, shopping, a beautiful spa and tons of activities. La Quinta truly has something for everyone. Matt and I can also really enjoy our stay being that everything is within walking distance. CHEERS!
This trip we stayed in a Deluxe Casita – Poolside and Fireplace room. This was the BEST room ever! We literally opened our door and there was the pool! Once we checked in and got settled in to our room there was a knock at the door. I looked at Matt and was like,” who is that? We are on vacation!!!” When I opened the door there was the cutest dessert plate decorated with birthday wishes for Harper and I! Not to mention they had the room all decorated with orange balloons, streamers and a little something special for Harper! Matt isn’t a big sweets guy, but I am pretty sure between him and Harper that night, I didn’t get a bite! This was just the start of the World Class service and personal touch La Quinta provided during our trip. I was truly blown away by everyone who helped us at the resort.
The next morning we woke up and walked to breakfast at Twenty6, which was AMAZING! The service and food was to die for. Did I mention that breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. Mimosas!!! Yes Please!!! I am usually a room service/breakfast traveler but after the 1st morning at Twenty6 you better believe I was up in time to make it day 2 before the doors closed. After breakfast we headed back to room to get ready for the pool. After using an entire bottle of sun tan lotion on my husband, as it was 108 degrees outside, we took the long arduous 10 foot walk to the pool right outside our door. It honestly felt as though we had our own private pool. Another plus. You know how sometimes after a long tough couple hours of laying out in the sun you just need something to eat because you have worked up an appetite. Room service/pool side. Yahtzee!!! With in minutes I had my margarita, pizza and fries to enjoy. This was pretty much our routine every day.. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!
Slowly each day we all migrated back to the room to clean up for dinner. The first night we went to Adobe. Matt had what he said was the most amazing fajitas he’s ever eaten. I had the enchiladas! I mean hello, I couldn’t go to a mexican restaurant and not get enchiladas! Enchiladas are literally a staple in my dietary needs. Not to mention, this place doesn’t mess around when you order a “GRANDE” margarita! Have you ever seen Cougar Town where they have the strangely large wine glass? Well La Quinta had the margarita version! The next night we were going to try Morgan’ Steak House, but Matt wanted to go back to Adobe to get the fajitas again! This is why I love staying at a place like this! Last minute changes are ok, just walk left and follow the tequila brick road! Kidding! Matt and I didn’t venture out to much when it came to what we had for dinner the second night because we loved what we had the night before, so we had it again. However, this time I went with the Sangria… I don’t know why I didn’t have this the first night… IT WAS SO GOOD! Did I mention I am slightly obsessed with Blake Shelton and Sangria. It’s my ring tone so …. don’t judge. We ended the night with a tres leches cake. I thought I was full until I had my first bite. Within minutes it was gone. This time daddy didn’t get a bite!
Needless to say, Wednesday came way too fast! We had 4 amazing days and 3 fun nights that we didn’t want to end. La Quinta, you truly did not disappoint. Palms Springs has been a tradition for a while, but now La Quinta Resort and Spa is part of that tradition as well.

Harper loved the candy shop. She just wishes they had an ice cream store too!
